Andrea Gauster began playing guitar in her youth in Peterborough, ON. She started her career writing songs and performing them at weddings and other private venues. In 2008, as a grad student at The University of Toronto, Andrea met producer James Pew. Over a five month period beginning in February 2009, they worked together at Toronto’s Euphonic Sound Recording Studio producing Andrea's first EP, a six-song collection entitled ‘Reverie’. Following this release, Andrea joined independent label Broken Window Records. A year later, in 2010, marked the release of her first full-length album 'We're Not Lost' which included the previously released single ‘Christmas Without You’. Her fanbase grew as she toured Ontario on multiple occasions and eventually completed a cross Canada tour. Her music has been featured on CBC radio and various independent stations across Canada. She continued to write and perform throughout medical school but took a hiatus from the music scene when she became a physician and started her medical residency back in Toronto, where she made her musical debut. Her two latest songs ‘We Won’t Let You Down‘ and ‘One Day Closer’ were inspired by her experience as a physician during the covid-19 pandemic which has included a quarantine away from her husband and young daughters. Both songs have yet to be professionally recorded but continue to gain widespread attention on social media. Andrea now lives with her family in Port Perry, Ontario where she practices medicine. After a long hiatus, she has shown us that her song-writing skills lurk beneath the lifestyle of a busy mother and doctor. She hopes to start writing and recording new music as her schedule allows.
